The 2020 IPMA will once again recognize outstanding achievement in the music industry by artists of Portuguese ancestry from around the world.
The eighth annual International Portuguese Music Awards (IPMA) takes place on Saturday, April 25, 2020, at 6:30 PM at the Zeiterion Performing Arts Center, in New Bedford, Massachusetts.
Tickets go on sale at the Zeiterion Theatre box office on this Tuesday, November 12, 2019.
Luso artists can submit their songs and videos for a chance at an IPMA nomination and award in 2020. The submission deadline is November 30, 2019.
Nominees for the following categories will be announced in February 2020: Rock, Pop, Dance, Rap/Hip-Hop, “Musica Popular”, Traditional, Fado, World Music, Instrumental, People’s Choice, Song of the Year, New Talent, and Music Video of the Year.
The following artists will be performing at 2020 IPMA:
Starlight, a Luso-Canadian band, has entertained international Portuguese communities for over 34 years. Their version of the song “Canção da Familia” remains one of the biggest hits ever among Luso communities around the world.
Aurea: Portuguese soul, pop, and blues singer who won MTV Europe Music Awards in both 2011 and 2012. In 2015, she became one of the coaches on The Voice Portugal.
Miguel Gameiro made his solo album debut in 2010 after nearly two decades as the frontman of Pólo Norte, one of Portugal’s premier rock bands of the late nineties.
Dino d’Santiago is a Portuguese singer of Cape Verdean descent. He’s known for bridging together the traditional Morna, Batuku, and Funaná with contemporary R&B and Global Club Music. Dino befriended Madonna in Lisbon and helped influence some of the music on her latest album.
Camané: Since winning the “Grande Noite de Fado” contest in 1979, he became one of Portugal’s best-known male fado singers and released 6 albums that have each sold over 1 million copies.
Eratoxica: In the past 17 years, this New England-based rock band has released 6 albums and 2 live DVDs. They routinely perform for Luso audiences in Canada, New Jersey, California, and the Azores.
GNR: a.k.a Grupo Novo Rock is a legendary pop/rock band formed in Porto in 1981. They are one of the pioneers of the Portuguese rock scene and one of the only groups to sell out a stadium back in 1992 when more than 40,000 fans attended their concert in Lisbon’s Estádio de Alvalade.

2020 Prémios IPMA – Distingue Artistas Luso Descendentes
O IPMA 2020 vai reconhecer mais uma vez os sucessos musicais de artistas de ascendência portuguesa espalhdos pelo mundo.
A oitava edição anual dos International Portuguese Music Awards (IPMA) têm lugar no sábado, 25 de Abril de 2020, às 18h30, no Zeiterion Performing Arts Center, em New Bedford, Massachusetts.
Os bilhetes estão à venda na bilheteira do Zeiterion Theatre a partir de terça-feira, 12 de Novembro de 2019.
Os artistas Luso descendentes podem apresentar as suas canções e vídeos para participar nos prémios IPMA em 2020, até ao dia 30 de novembro de 2019.
Os nomeados para as seguintes categorias serão anunciados em fevereiro de 2020: Rock, Pop, Dance, Rap/Hip-Hop, “Musica Popular”, Tradicional, Fado, World Music, Instrumental, People’s Choice, Song of the Year, New Talent, e Music Video of the Year.

Banda Starlight
Starlight, a banda luso-canadiana, que tem entretido as comunidades portuguesas por todo o mundo há mais de 34 anos. A sua versão da “Canção da Familia” continua a ser um dos maiores êxitos de sempre entre as comunidades lusas.
Aurea
Aurea: Cantora portuguesa de soul, pop e blues, vencedora dos prémios MTV Europe Music Awards em 2011 e 2012. Em 2015, tornou-se numa das Instructoras do The Voice Portugal.
Miguel Gameiro
Miguel Gameiro estreou-se a solo em 2010, após quase duas décadas como vocalista dos Pólo Norte, uma das principais bandas de rock de Portugal do final dos anos 90.
Dino d’Santiago
Dino d’Santiago é um cantor português de ascendência cabo-verdiana. É conhecido por unir a tradicional Morna, Batuku e Funaná com o R&B contemporâneo e o Global Club Music. Dino tornou-se amigo da Madonna em Lisboa e influenciou-a em algumas das músicas do seu último álbum.
