The Vice-President of the Government expressed today the conviction that the touristic movement in Terceira island will grow starting in the coming low season.
“Effectively, the perspectives for next year are extremely positive”, said Sergio Avila, mainly with the introduction of the “direct winter connections from Spain, Canada and the United States”, which, combined with other factors, will also create conditions to “reduce the seasonality and reinforce the tourism as fundamental activity”.
The governor, who was speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the inauguration of a tourist investment in Terceira Island, stressed that private investment “has corresponded to this and this confidence.”

In this sense, he referred as an example, the project now inaugurated, which consists of a hostel with 40 beds, bar/brewery, and restaurant, in Lajes, municipality of Praia da Vitória.
“This investment, of more than 1.2 million euros, in the center of Vila das Lajes, is an additional demonstration of this confidence to the future of the island”, and, simultaneously, “confidence in tourism as a fundamental sector” for the development of the region, said Sérgio Ávila.

O Vice-Presidente do Governo manifestou hoje a convicção de que o movimento turístico na ilha Terceira vai crescer já a partir da época baixa que se aproxima.
“Efetivamente, as perspetivas do próximo ano são extremamente positivas”, disse Sérgio Ávila, nomeadamente com a introdução de “ligações diretas no inverno de Espanha, do Canadá e dos Estados Unidos”, o que, aliado a outros fatores, criará também condições para “reduzir a sazonalidade e reforçar o turismo como atividade fundamental”.
O governante, que falava aos jornalistas, à margem da inauguração de um investimento turístico na ilha Terceira, salientou que o investimento privado “tem correspondido a esse esforço, a essa confiança”.

Nesse sentido, apontou como exemplo o empreendimento agora inaugurado, composto por um hostel com 40 camas, bar/cervejaria e restaurante, nas Lajes, concelho da Praia da Vitória.
“Este investimento, que é superior a 1,2 milhões de euros, no centro da Vila das Lajes, é mais uma demonstração dessa confiança no futuro da ilha” e, simultaneamente, “confiança no turismo como um setor fundamental” para o desenvolvimento da Região, afirmou Sérgio Ávila.
