Washington D.C. – (Lusa) – The Portuguese-American Bar Association (PABA) was launched on October 6th in Washington DC. Their mission, objectives, and initiatives were presented in an event prepared for the community of Portuguese origin.
The new association was created to support Portuguese nationals studying or working in the justice sector in the US and intends to have a close link with those who need to use the services, but also with Portugal.
PABA can be a mean of following up the “next generation of Luso-American lawyers,” said lawyer José Fragoso, director of the committee created for the professional society.
The new association is supported by the Portuguese-American Leadership Council of the United States (PALCUS).
The Luso-American Bar Association was created from an idea presented by Judge Phillip Rapoza at a PALCUS conference this past June in Washington D.C. and has already received expressions of interest from residents and students of several US states.

Washington, (Lusa) – A Portuguese-American Bar Association (PABA), ordem luso-americana dos advogados, foi lançada, no dia 6 de Outubro em Washington D.C., Estados Unidos da América (EUA) e apresentou a sua missão, objetivos e iniciativas num evento preparado para a comunidade de origem portuguesa.
A nova associação foi criada para dar apoio a portugueses que estudam ou trabalham no setor da Justiça nos EUA e pretende ter um vínculo próximo com os que precisam de usar os serviços, mas também com Portugal.
A PABA pode ser um meio de acompanhar a “próxima geração de advogados luso-americanos”, disse o advogado José Fragoso, diretor do comité de criação da sociedade profissional.
A nova associação tem a colaboração do Portuguese-American Leadership Council of the United States (PALCUS).
A ordem de advogados luso-americanos foi criada a partir de uma ideia apresentada pelo juiz Phillip Rapoza numa conferência do PALCUS em junho, em Washinghton D.C. e já recebeu manifestações de interesse de habitantes de vários Estados Norte-Americanos e de estudantes.
