MAPS – The Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers (MAPS) raised $40K at its first Chip-In for Charity Golf Tournament benefiting the MAPS Senior Center in Cambridge, which took place on September 24, 2018, at the Juniper Hill Golf Course, in Northborough, MA.
Approximately 100 community members, business leaders, and supporters participated in the event, which was co-chaired by Rui Domingos, CEO of Naveo Credit Union, and Walter Souza, owner of Inman Square Wine & Spirits, longtime friends and supporters of MAPS. The fundraising tournament also included a silent auction, a 50/50 raffle, and a lunch banquet.
The best foursome of the tournament was composed of Dan Rego, Jeff DiGregorio, Jason Costa, and Brian Pavao, who won a Foursome at the Juniper Hill Golf Course, donated by the golf course. Players Randall Davis, Rogen Cenac, Tina Champagne, and Tom Alessi were awarded the second prize – four $50 Gift Certificates to Rocco’s Restaurant in Wilmington, MA, donated by Rocco’s Restaurant. The third prize, a Portuguese Wine Basket donated by MAPS Executive Director Paulo Pinto, went to Steven Magalhaes, Paul Magalhaes, Michael Medeiros, and Tony Macone.
Prizes were also given to the Men’s Longest Drive, Michael Paquin; Women’s Longest Drive, Kathleen Berrio; and Closest to the Pin, Oggie Melo.
The MAPS 1st Annual Chip-In for Charity Golf Tournament was presented by Titanium Sponsors Auxzillium IT Services & Solutions, Brite Builders Incorporated, Couto Management Group, East Cambridge Savings Bank, Naveo Credit Union, S & F Concrete, and the Sardinha Family Trust/Dunkin’ Donuts Franchise. The lunch boxes were sponsored by Inman Square Wine & Spirits, while the banquet was made possible by the generous support of Pacheco Jewelers. J&F Construction kindly sponsored the beverage cart.
The MAPS Senior Center in Cambridge, open Mondays through Thursdays, is a linguistically and culturally competent space designed to prevent isolation and promote wellness through case management and daily social and recreational activities, including exercise classes, arts and crafts, and nutritional meals.

O torneio de angariação de fundos incluiu também um leilão silencioso, um sorteio de 50/50 e um almoço.
O melhor quarteto do torneio foi composto por Dan Rego, Jeff DiGregorio, Jason Costa e Brian Pavao, que ganhou um Foursome no Juniper Hill Golf Course, doado pelo campo de golfe.
