[accordion title=”Ver artigo em Português” load=”hide”]A organização Portuguese American Road Riders (PARR) conseguiu juntar $13 124 na angariação de fundos para os filhos da família Paiva/Flores, o check foi entregue no domingo dia 2 de setembro na festa de N.Sra do Loreto em Lowell, MA.
Neste dia de festa sentia-se no ar o carinho e o espírito de solidariedade para com esta família em necessidade. Tal como explicamos no nosso artigo de Julho este donativo beneficia os filhos da família Paiva/Flores devido à doença oncológica do pai que se encontra muito debilitado e não pode trabalhar por causa dos tratamentos, e em consequência desta situação a mãe também não pode trabalhar a tempo inteiro para poder acompanhar o marido nesses tratamentos.
A maioria dos membros da PARR estiveram presentes para a entrega do check, sentindo o dever cumprido em mais esta missão de solidariedade. A PARR tem 13 anos de existência e todos os anos escolhe uma família em necessidade dando prioridade a ajuda a crianças e a jovens.
Sandra Paiva rodeada pelos seus filhos e visivelmente comovida recebeu o check das mãos de Kenny Costa e agradeceu à organização e a todos quantos contribuíram para esta ajuda.
Kenny Costa Presidente da PARR disse que foi com muito orgulho que organizou e se empenhou nesta angariação de fundos para benefício desta causa e que sentiu a solidariedade de muita gente o que o motiva a continuar com esta iniciativa para os próximos anos, principalmente por ter sido o seu primeiro ano como presidente e por ter sido o ano em que conseguiram o maior montante angariado.

Portuguese American Road Riders (PARR) raised $13,124 for the benefit of the Paiva/Flores family children. A check was presented to the family on Sunday, September 2, 2018, at the Our Lady of Loreto Feast in Lowell, MA.
PARR’s original goal was to raise $10,000 by Labor Day weekend. The final amount raised exceeded everyone’s expectations. The efforts of the club members and the entire community contributed to the tremendous success of this fundraiser.
There was a lot of love and solidarity in the air at the 2018 Feast of Our Lady of Loreto in Lowell, MA. This was also the day for the Portuguese American Road Riders Club (PARR) to present a check to the Paiva/Flores children.
Earlier this year, on Saturday, July 14, after several months of organizing, PARR held its 13th Annual Benefit Run. This year some 75 motorcycles participated in the club benefit run from Holy Ghost Field in Lowell to Londonderry, NH and back to Lowell. The motorcycle run was organized to raise money to benefit the children of the Paiva/Flores family whose father has stage four colon cancer. Every year PARR chooses to help a family in need and gives priority to helping children.
Kenny Costa, the club’s president, along with vice-president Paul Teixeira, other board members, and club members delivered the check to the family right after the Luis Neves show ended.
Sandra Paiva, surrounded by her children and visibly moved, received a big hug and check from the hands of Kenny Costa, PARR’s president. She thanked the organization and all those who contributed.
Costa said he was proud to be part of an organization committed to fundraising for the benefit of those in need and that the solidarity of many people motivates him to continue going forward. This was Costa’s first year as president of PARR and he is proud to say it was the largest amount raised by the club in its 13 year history.
