Saint Anthony’s feast took place at the Saint Anthony Parish in Cambridge, Massachusetts on Saturday, June 19, 2017.

The festivities included Portuguese Folklore music and dancing by Rancho Folclórico Corações Lusíadas

Traditional Portuguese dishes were served like sardines with bread and boiled potato with pepper paste, carne no espeto (skewered meat), chouriço & onion sandwiches and the all favorite malassadas (Portuguese fried dough sprinkled with sugar).

The evening celebrations ended with dancing to the the sounds of “Starlight”, a Portuguese-Canadian band.

Saint Anthony is the patron saint of the city of Lisbon. He was born on August 15, 1195, in Lisbon, as Fernando Martins and took the name of Anthony when he became a Catholic priest of the Franciscan Order. He died on June 13, 1231, in Padua, Italy and was canonized one year after his death.
