O Boston Portuguese Festival (BPF) está a preparar uma celebração especial em honra do Dia de Portugal, de Camões e das Comunidades no domingo, dia 10 de junho de 2018, entre as 3:00pm e as 8:00pm na Boston City Hall Plaza.
O programa inclui a visita do navio Sagres, gastronomia portuguesa, entretenimento cultural, provas de vinho, folclore, uma demonstração de cavalos lusitanos, atividades infantis e atuações musicais com o luso-americano Jorge Ferreira e o franco-português Chris Ribeiro.
O grande destaque do festival deste ano será a presença do Presidente da República de Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, do Primeiro-Ministro António Costa, e de Vasco Cordeiro, Presidente do Governo Regional dos Açores.
A celebração em Boston—que vai reunir empresas, organizações, associações, grupos recreativos, escolas e membros da comunidade luso-americana em Massachusetts—incluirá também a tradicional cerimónia de hastear da bandeira, um importante evento na Câmara Municipal de Boston que se realiza há mais de 10 anos e que homenageia as contribuições e sucessos da comunidade luso-americana na cidade de Boston e em todo o estado de Massachusetts.
Para além da programação do dia 10, a edição deste ano do BPF inclui também uma série de eventos promovidos por organizações parceiras
• 10 de junho, 2018 às 3:00 pm – Festival do Dia de Portugal, de Camões e das Comunidades na Boston City Hall Plaza.
• 11 de junho, 2018 às 10:00 am – 34a Celebração Anual do Heritage Day of Portugal na House of Representatives Chamber, Massachusetts State House.
• 9 de junho, 2018 – Fórum Anual da PAPS (Portuguese-American Postgraduate Society).
• 9 de junho – 14 de junho, 2018 – O navio NRP Sagres da Marinha Portuguesa estará no Boston Harbor com visitas abertas ao público.
• 20 de abril, 2018 às 10:00 am – VII Conferência de Literatura de Língua Portuguesa na UMass Boston com os escritores lusófonos Afonso Cruz (Portugal), Julián Fuks (Brasil), e Daniel Medina (Cabo Verde) e a convidada especial Anna Klobucka.
• 2 de abril, 2018 às 7:30 pm – Exibição do filme Todos os Sonhos do Mundo, em colaboração com o Belmont World Film festival, no Belmont Studio Cinema.

A celebração deste ano é uma colaboração entre o Consulado-Geral de Portugal em Boston, o Consulado de Portugal em New Bedford, a Luso-American Education Foundation (LAEF), a Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers (MAPS) e muitas outras organizações luso-americanas de Massachusetts.

Boston Portuguese Festival Celebrates Portuguese-American Heritage
The Boston Portuguese Festival (BPF), will host a special Portuguese-American celebration in honor of the Day of Portugal, of Camões, and of the Portuguese Communities on Sunday, June 10, 2018, from 3:00 to 8:00 pm at Boston’s City Hall Plaza.
The diverse program of activities includes the visit of the Portuguese Navy’s NRP Sagres, Portuguese cuisine, cultural entertainment, wine tastings, food vendors, traditional folk dancing, Lusitano horse demonstration, children’s activities, and special musical performances by Portuguese-American singer Jorge Ferreira and Franco-Portuguese singer Chris Ribeiro.
The highlight of the festival will be the presence of Portugal’s President, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, Prime Minister António Costa, and Vasco Cordeiro, President of the Regional Government of the Azores.
The celebration in Boston—which will bring together local Portuguese-American businesses and organizations, cultural associations, recreational groups, schools and community members—will also include the traditional flag-raising ceremony, which has been an important event at Boston City Hall for over a decade, honoring the contributions of Portuguese-Americans to the City of Boston and across the Commonwealth.
In addition, this year’s edition of the BPF will host other events with its partner organizations:
- • June 10, 2018 at 3:00 pm – Festival in honor of the Day of Portugal, Camões and of the Portuguese Communities at Boston City Hall Plaza.
- • June 11, 2018 at 10:00 am – 34th Annual Heritage Day of Portugal Celebration at the House of Representatives Chamber, Massachusetts State House.
- • June 9, 2018 – The Portuguese-American Postgraduate Society’s (PAPS) Annual Forum.
- • June 9 – June 14, 2018 – The Portuguese Navy’s tall ship NRP Sagres will be docked in Boston Harbor and will be open for public viewing.
- • April 20, 2018 at 10:00 am – VII Literature in Portuguese Language conference at UMass Boston with guest Lusophone writers Afonso Cruz (Portugal), Julián Fuks (Brazil), and Daniel Medina (Cape Verde) and special guest Anna Klobucka.
- • April 2, 2018 at 7:30 pm – Screening of All the Dreams in the World in collaboration with the Belmont World Film festival at Belmont Studio Cinema.
